Advanced Close Protection course (ACPC)

The Advanced Close Protection Course 

 A two week course, week one in UK and week two in Europe

The first week covers the fundamentals of professional firearms related executive protection: methods and skills.

The second week concentrates on firearms training and a thorough understanding of target engagement in a safe and controlled live firing environment.

 Week 1 – Firearms related protection training. 

The aim of week one is to ensure a thorough grounding is in place to progress to week two.

• Threat assessment while planning and evaluating a typical client itinerary
• Securing the client in all situations – while walking, at the client’s home, while attending public events, while driving, etc.
• Understanding the threat.  The aggressor’s modus operandi.
• Ambush and anti ambush.
• Improvised explosive devices.
• Working in teams pairs and more – cooperation and communication.
• Aggressive withdrawal. Break contact.
• Movement with firearms running turning and halting techniques.
• Movement under fire.
• Arrest and restraint techniques and the use of force. Personal Security.
• Arrest.
• English Law defines arrest
• Use of force.    
• Restraint methods.

• Handcuffs.
• Cable ties.
• Cord.
• Physical.
• Other items e.g. shoe laces, neck tie, jacket etc.
• Use of everyday items as aids.

 

• Unarmed combat.

• Unarmed person.
• Against knife.
• Against bottle.
• Against sticks of various lengths.
• Against pistols.
• Use of every day items as weapons.

• The principles of Urban warfare.
• Understanding the sniper.  How he works.
• Ballistics fundamentals – from breach to target. 
• Bullet penertration. Use of cover.
• The reconnaissance and protective work;

• Securing the area prior to arrival.
• Searching for explosives and suspicious articles.
• Planning emergency evacuations and readying escape routes.

• Equipment – what you need and where to get it.

Week 2 –Firearms training

The overall goal of the second week is firearms training and a thorough understanding of target engagement in a safe and controlled live firing environment.

• Understanding firearms.
• Knowing your weapon.  stripping and assembling.
• Weapon safety and security.
• Holding aiming and firing: one-handed and two-handed.
• Marksmanship Principles.
• Fire positions.
• Drawing and engaging single and multiple targets: one-handed and two-handed. 
• IA Clearing a weapon under pressure.
• Firing from cover – doors, windows, walls, etc.
• Multiple weapon systems use of the secondary.
• Observation.
• Judging distance.
• Map reading.

• Map to ground.
• Bearings.
• Grid references.   
• Use of ground/cover.
• Triangulation.
• Navigation.
